The 2023 Global Life-Work Balance Index revealed some of the top countries that have the best work-life balance. They were ranked on the basis of statutory annual leave, sick pay, maternity leave, healthcare and overall happiness.
New Zealand lead the ranking with 26 paid weeks of maternity leave, high minimum wage, 32 days of annual leave and 80% sick pay percentage.
Spain came in second with a whopping 36 days of annual leave. Meanwhile, workers in Spain have the most hours of leisure and personal care out of any country apart from Italy and France.
France, like Spain, also has 36 days of statutory annual leave and puts special emphasis on work-life balance. The average work hours per week comes out to be 25.6.
On number four was Australia with 30 days of annual leaves, 100% sick pay percentage and an average of 32.4 hours of work per week.
Denmark, like Spain and France also considers work-life balance to be sacred and offers 36 days of paid annual leaves. The average working hours per week came out to be 25.9 with 100% sick pay percentage.
