Last month, there were reports of at least 20 incidents of fire in residential societies in Greater Noida.
These are the top five reasons cited by experts:
Leaving
electrical appliances
like irons, toasters, and TVs switched on and left unattended.
Unattended diya or candle in balconies.
Forgotten pan on the stove with oil in it.
Choked chimneys in the kitchen. It’s important to clean the chimney every three to four months.
The risk of such accidents are made worse by the apathy of the builders and home buyers.
Many
builders
do not follow the guidelines issued by authorities including the fire department.
If you’re planning to buy an apartment in a highrise, do check whether the construction plan is compliant with fire safety rules.
