The 2024/25 Champions League draw will shift from its 21-year-old format.
The previous format used to have 32 teams in the competition.
These teams were then categorised into eight groups of four each.
The top two from each group qualified for the knockouts.
The new format will see the participation of 36 teams in the Champions League.
Teams will be divided into four pots based on how they were seeded.
Each team will next play two opponents from each pot, once home and once away.
After selecting a team from a pot, UEFA’s program will determine which of the 8 opponents they will play.
This format entails more games involving top teams like Real Madrid, Manchester City and Bayern Munich.
UEFA also claimed the program will prevent teams from playing their domestic rivals.
