Vinesh Phogat Disqualified From Paris Olympics Gold Medal Match

Vinesh Phogat has been disqualified from the Paris Olympics ahead of her gold-medal match.

The development comes after she could not make the weight on the morning of her 50 kg gold medal bout.

A statement shared by the Indian Olympic Association confirmed the update.

A disqualification will mean that Phogat will not be able to win a medal at the Olympics 2024.

Vinesh was reportedly found overweight by just 100gm on Wednesday morning.

Weigh-ins take place in the morning for any wrestlers competing on that day.

During the first weigh-in, wrestlers have 30 minutes to measure weight.

For wrestlers, who are competing on the second day, the weigh-in will last for 15 minutes.

Phogat beat reigning world champion Yui Susaki in the first round of the Women’s 50kg Freestyle event.

She got the better of Ukraine’s Oksana Livach in the quarterfinals at the Paris Olympics.
