Kohli Becomes Second-Highest Run-Scorer In World Cup History

Virat Kohli moves to the second-highest position in run tally in the history of the World Cup, during the CWC 2023 finals on Sunday.

Though India had a disappointing defeat, Virat's performance throughout the series, even in the finals, definitely stole hearts.

The former India skipper surpassed former Australian captain, Ricky Ponting's record of 1743 runs, that he amassed from 1996 to 2011.

VK scored 54 runs vs Australia at the CWC 2023 finals, reaching a massive 765 runs in CWC 2023, which is the highest run scored in a single World Cup edition.

With this, he recorded an incredible 1795 runs in just 37 ODI World Cup matches, from 2011 to 2023.

Throughout those appearances, he scored 5 centuries and 12 half centuries, with his highest score being 117.

He also overtook captain Rohit Sharma, who is currently at no. 4 in the list, with 1575 runs, amassed from 2015 to 2023.

Virat is 484 runs away from surpassing the Indian legend, Sachin Tendulkar, and making it to the no. 1 in the list.

Fans are thereby hopeful of seeing him in another World Cup, breaking records and wreching havoc on opponent teams.
