India resumed the e-visa services for Canadian nationals on November 22 ahead of Justin Trudeau’s participation in the Virtual G20 Leaders’ Summit.
It includes the issuance of entry visas, business visas, medical visas, and conference visas.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair the G20 virtual summit on November 22, 2023, amid growing international concerns due to the Israel-Hamas war and shaky diplomatic relations with Canada.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has confirmed attendance at the event. This would be Trudeau's first virtual interaction with Modi since the two countries' relationship turned sour.
Leaders of all G20 Members including the Chair of the African Union, nine Guest countries, and Heads of 11 International Organizations, have been invited to attend the virtual summit.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese Premier Li Qiang have also accepted India's invitation to the meet.
Earlier, in September, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced the temporary suspension of visas to Canadian citizens citing the security threats faced by its high commission and consulates in Canada.
