Thus far, the nation has had 14 prime ministers, with eight hailing from Uttar Pradesh (UP). Jawaharlal Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Indira Gandhi, Chaudhari Charan Singh, Rajiv Gandhi, Viswanath Pratap Singh, Chandra Shekhar, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee belonged to UP.
Gujarat gave the country three prime ministers. Morarji Desai could not complete his five year term in office. PM Narendra Modi has been elected to power twice and is in the race to be elected for the third time. Gulzarilal Nanda was an Acting Prime Minister.
