WHO confirms human bird flu case: Symptoms and prevention

According to the World Health Organisation, on June 7, a two-and-a-half-year-old girl was confirmed to have H5N1 bird flu and was admitted to the ICU in Australia.

WHO on Tuesday confirmed the spread of bird flu to humans in India. The health body said that this infection was detected in a four-year-old child in West Bengal due to the H9N2 virus.

The disease is usually transferred between animals, but it can also infect humans.

People working in poultry farms have the highest risk of getting infected with this virus. Bird flu spreads by coming in contact with a bird infected with the virus and its faeces.

WHO says that the avian influenza virus can prove to be fatal, so it is important to identify the symptoms of this disease as early as possible.
