Wrestlers' sit-in protest in Delhi leads to FIR against WFI chief
The Supreme Court of India directed the Delhi Police to file an FIR against under-fire WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh
Here's how star wrestlers leading the protest at Jantar Mantar reacted to the development
Sakshi Malik: “This is first step towards victory but our protest will continue”
Vinesh Phogat: “He should be behind the bars and removed from all the posts he holds”
Bajrang Punia: “Delhi Police should take strict action and put him behind the bars as soon as possible”
WFI chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, meanwhile, stated he “has not escaped” and will co-operate with the Delhi Police
The wrestlers, who resumed their protest at Jantar Mantar last weekend, have received plenty of support from other athletes, including Sania Mirza and Virender Sehwag
Sania Mirza: “As an athlete but more as a woman this is too difficult to watch… I hope whatever the truth is, justice is served”
Virender Sehwag: “It is a sensitive matter and it should be thoroughly investigated. Hope the athletes get justice”
