Gujiya is a sweet snack item made in north India mostly during the festival of Holi. This is a rich delicacy prepared with mawa (milk cream) and dry fruits. Here's a step-by-step guide to making malai gujiya at home.
Ingredients Malai from full-fat milk - 2 cup Maida - 2 cup Powdered sugar 200 gm Cardamom powder 1/2 tsp Nuts 1/2 cup Desiccated Coconut 1/2 cup
Step 1 Cook malai on the stove along with sugar and desiccated coconut, till it is completely dry. Keep it aside.
Step 3 Lightly knead the flour with ghee. Then knead it properly with water. Put a final coating of ghee on the kneaded dough. Let it rest for some time.
Step 4 Roll the dough and cut into equal parts. Roll each part into a small roti. Smear maida slurry on all the sides of the roti.
Step 5 Place the malai mixture in the centre, and secure the ends to give it the shape of gujiya.
Step 6 Poke a couple of holes in the gujiya with a pin. Fry in ghee
