Yummy Shahi Tukda Recipe

Try this shahi tukda recipe at home to delight your sweet tooth. It is a bread and milk-based dessert, popular in Mughlai cuisine.

Ingredients Large white bread (edges trimmed off) - 4 slices Ghee (clarified butter) - 2 cups Sugar - 2 tbsps Milk - 1/2 cup Rabri (made of 1/2 kg milk) Gulab Jal (rose water) - 1 tsp Malai - 1/2 cup

Ingredients for garnishing Almonds (slivered), blanched - 2 tbsp Pistachios (slivered), blanched - 2 tbsp Rose petals - 1/2 tbsp Kesar strands - 4

Step 1 Cut the bread slices into half, lengthwise, and deep fry in hot ghee, till crisp.

Step 2 Now, dissolve the sugar in the milk, bring it to a boil, and keep aside till cool enough to handle.

Step 3 Dip the bread in the milk and sugar solution, and arrange the pieces in a serving dish, in one layer.

Step 4 Mix the rose water in the 'rabri' and spoon it over the bread slices, to cover all of them.

Step 5 Spoon the malai or cream over the center of each slice.

Step 6 Garnish with almonds, pistachios, rose petals, and saffron strands. Serve hot or chilled.
